ABSTRACT
Thirty three grab samples were taken from the surface sediments of the north west Arabian Gulf, at the entrance of Khor Abdullah, Iraq. Sampling was carried out during the period from January to June 1990. Sediment textures were grouped into three categories; sandy silty clay, silty clayey sand and clayey sand. An apparent correlation was found to occur between the clayey sand sediments and the amount of fish caught. In this region the catch weight was about 3 times more those caught in other area.
